Abstract  A method of advanced local binary pattern histogram projection (ALBPHP) is proposed. It projects advanced local binary pattern (ALBP) histogram, which has complete label information and unified label position, onto locality preserving projection (LPP) space to get the lower dimensional ALBPHP feature. Compared with ALBP feature, ALBPHP feature has lower dimensionality and stronger discriminative power in representing face image. Comparative experiments on JAFFE database and Cohn-Kanade database demonstrate that the recognition rate of ALBPHP is higher than that of ALBP when same classifiers are used.
