Abstract:Feature extraction from ID photos is discussed to retrieve subjects in ID photo database. By an adaptive threshold, a general skin color detection algorithm is modified for face region segmentation. The extracted face region is then segmented into individual organs by using the proposed projection DCT coefficients. Thus organ feature points are obtained. To improve the face description ability, the parameters of cheek profile are added to feature set by polynomial curve fitting. A photo retrieval system is implemented using the described methods and satisfactory results are acquired.
