Abstract  Based on a Principal Component Analysis (PCA)/Snake mixture model, an algorithm for contour extraction of moving objects is proposed. Firstly, the moving objects in the image sequences are detected based on an extended PCA model and eigenforground. The extended PCA model can be used directly to process image sequences. Secondly, the precision contour of moving object is extracted based on a Snake model according to the detection result of the moving object. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm extracts the moving object precisely with a high speed.
